Jim McMillan
Jim McMillan
MRICS: Director

Jim McMillan has 30 years experience working for clients, developers and builders in the Newtownabbey area and beyond. He has negotiated 1000's of sale and purchaser transactions including sales, negotiations, valuations, compulsory purchase, vesting, sites, valuations and much more. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and is extremely active in local fundraising groups, churches, schools and chair of the Drumross Adult Centre fundraising group. Jim believes all staff should play an active role in giving back to the community.

He is married to Imelda McMillan a high profile Senior Partner at Belfast law firm O'Reilly Stewart Solicitors. Mrs McMillan was President of the Northern Ireland Law Society she is also very active in fundraising charities. They live in Jordanstown and have two children.

McMillan is a family owned local firm set up in early 2002 by Jim McMillan and based in Glengormley. After 19 years of working for Brian Morton & Co / Halifax and a short time at the Eric Cairns Partnership Jim recognised a gap in the market for high standard, professional estate agency services with a personal touch. The firm within 6 months became the market leader. Many of the company sales are previous well satisfied clients. The staff has expanded to 7 today and standards have never been higher. In 2010 the firm recognised and accredited to Investors in People. Since its formation the firm have acted for thousands of Client's and Institutions. As a firm we believe strongly in putting back into the community and to date the firm has supported many charities and local schools to the tune of £80,000. A donation is made on each house sale and rental we successfully complete. Jim McMillan and staff are based at the new well positioned high profile office in Portland Avenue, Glengormley.

BSc (Hons): Valuer

Laura has been with McMillan since our launch in 2002 after gaining a BSc hons at the University of Ulster in Social Science. She became a qualified valuer in 2008 following completion of a further BSc hons in property studies from Dublin Institute of Technology.

Laura has lived in Newtownabbey all her life and has a sound knowledge of the area and all it has to offer potential purchasers. She has an indepth experience of all aspects of estate agency from lettings, new build and sales and is always ready to offer valuable advice to clients.

Laura prides herself in providing excellent customer service with enthusiasm and professionalism and works hard to provide the best possible outcome for all our clients.

Laura is a dedicated member of staff who enjoys meeting a range of people through her work and her friendly and efficient manner makes her a valuable member of the McMillan team.

Laura lives with her fiancé Patrick and two young Children Katie and Patrick.

Barrie McClure

BA: Valuer

Barrie came to McMillan on a graduate placement programme in 2002 and has never looked back. After graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Business and Information Management Barrie discovered that he thrives on a variety of challenges that estate agency brings.

Over the years, he has negotiated a high volume of sales to many satisfied purchasers and vendors. Having been involved in the ESTA awards we have won in the last few years Barries customer satisfaction received over 98% with every vote. He prides himself on keeping his clients updated regularly with developments on the sales and goes out of his way to give them a first class service.

Barrie is now one of three residential valuers for both sales and lettings with McMillan. Having grown up in the Greenisland area with over 12 years' experience and knowledge. Barrie, within his position carries out a number of management roles within the business specialising in technology and keeping the business up to date and progressing with digital marketing and social media so McMillans are at the fore front of our industry.

Working with the local community Barrie puts time and effort into promoting the local area, schools and charities. He is married to Alison who is a speech and language therapist and has two young sons George and Rowan.

Peri Mullan

Sales Receptionist

Having enjoyed a very successful career in the Financial sector, Peri joined the team in early 2014 following early retirement from this sector. With a wealth of experience in customer service and marketing, Peri is involved in meeting clients and arranging valuations and viewings. Peri's role is customer focused and she believes in going the extra mile to ensure that clients interacting with the office have a very positive experience.

Peri, who lives locally is married with a grown up family and spends her free time between spending time with her grandchildren and working for a local charity.

Nicola Tann
Nicola Tann

Nicola graduated from UUJ in 1997 with an honours degree in estate management and has 17 years experience in the property industry.

She became a member of the Irish Auctioneers and Valuers institute in 1997, later becoming a fellow, and following the institute merging with the RICS is currently a Fellow of the RICS.

Having worked previously for Ulster property sales and BTWShiells Residential, Nicola has gained experience across all sectors or the industry including resale, new developments, development appraisal, corporate recovery, residential lettings and property management.

In her spare time her interests include horse riding and Nicola has competed and judged throughout Ireland.

Nicola has a good understanding of the industry and landlords expectations, and provides solutions to problems before they become issues, thereby offering excellent levels of service to both tenants and landlords.

Nicola recently joined McMillan estate Agents in August 2014.

Katrina Heaney

Katrina came to McMillan for work experience in experience in 2012 and enjoyed her time here so much that she stayed and decided to put her English degree at Queens University on hold.

Katrina is a key member in our successful letting and property management department and works hard to ensure clients and tenants are given the best service possible. Katrina's upbeat personality and local market knowledge makes her perfect for the role. She deals with all aspects of lettings and is very highly regarded by her clients.

Katrina lives locally with her husband George and son Benjamin.

Independant Financial Advisor

Davis has been McMillan's independent mortgage broker since 2005 and with 22 years experience to his name, is fully qualified to advise clients on the whole of the market. A real people person, Davis enjoys that he guides clients through the whole buying process, from when they start looking at properties, to when the deal is agreed, to the point at which they own their new home. Davis has helped hundreds of customers secure the finance for their new home and takes a great deal of pride in his work.

Hanna was introduced to the firm through Rutledge Recruitment and Training Group to fulfil the work experience requirement of her administration course. Hanna is hardworking and her attention to detail ensures she completes all tasks to the best to the best of her ability. Hanna hopes to further her learning through McMillan and she is a valuable member of our team.
